Steven Carter Hanson, known affectionately as Big Steve, passed away just shy of his 72nd birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, cherished memories, and amazing childhood stories. He is proceeded in death by his parents Eugene and Rose Marie Hanson, and younger brother Jay Martin Hanson. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Becky, by his brother Dave Hanson and his wife Becky, his sister Lori Woodbury, his five daughters their husbands: Danya and Mike Topham, Nikki and Steve Ross, Tyra and Brian Burgess, Corinn and Eric Moore and Stephanie and Cory Tueller as well as his sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

From an early age, Steve’s passion for sports, especially golf, was evident. Born with a golf club in hand, he excelled in various athletic endeavors, including basketball, baseball, and track and field, guiding him away from trouble and instilling a love for competition and camaraderie. His love for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golfing was infectious, which he passed down to his daughters and grandchildren and shared with countless others in his community and church.

A skilled builder, Steve dedicated his life to constructing not only homes but also relationships. His years in the jewelry business and home building business were marked by his commitment to helping others strengthen their bonds and fostering enduring connections that went beyond mere transactions. Active in his church and community, he imparted his values of love, faith, and love of the outdoors to both his family and those around him.

Yet, it was Steve’s sense of humor that truly endeared him to all who knew him. With a knack for storytelling, he could captivate you for hours with his vivid and detailed recollections (like names of elementary school teachers) and infectious laughter. His memories and stories are cherished by those who were lucky enough to know him.

Steven Carter Hanson was more than just a man; he was a builder of people, shaping lives through love, passion for family, reverence for being outdoors (especially on a golf course) and his unique sense of humor. His presence will be deeply missed, but his kindness and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were close to him.

Love you Big Steve!!!

I had a very high regard for Steve back in high school - he was one of the "cool" kids. After graduation, I completely lost track of him, unfortunately. Now, I feel a great sense of loss that he and I will never speak again. I send my condolences to his family and friends, sharing their loss.
