Taunya Latteier (Higham)

Died from cancer, April 1, 2012

From the SL Tribune - April 4, 2012:

Taunya Latteier Hanson

1952 ~ 2012
Taunya Latteier Hanson, most loved wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, passed peacefully at home from the arms of her loving family into those of her loving Savior on April 1, 2012. For eight years she defeated breast cancer with a characteristically bold strength and passion for life and family.
Born in Salt Lake City on March 23, 1952, to John and Elaine Latteier, Taunya attended Skyline High School (class of 1970), and Brigham Young University. On May 24, 1973, she married Alan Vincent Higham in the Salt Lake Temple (later divorced). On October 6, 2000, she married Joseph Kris Hanson for (a far too short) time, and all eternity, in the Bountiful, Utah Temple. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taunya spent most of her callings serving children in the Primary, and her life serving family and others in ways often known only to them and her Father in Heaven.
Taunya's energy and enthusiasm for life were expressed through bike rides, long walks at night, and Harley rides with her husband throughout the country. But, her great passion was her love and nurturing of her many, many animals - especially her beloved horses.
Taunya is survived by her husband, Kris Hanson, D.D.S.; mother, Elaine Aikens; children, Christian (Dani) Higham, Nicole (Paul) Gadd, Taryn (Jake) Simmons, and Brooke Higham; stepdaughters, Brittany (Sean) Booth, and Erin Hanson; siblings, John (Kari) Latteier, Michelle (George) Griner, Monique Latteier; grandchildren (passion even greater than horses), Megan, Cannon, Hailey, Rylie, Madison, Mason, Ashlee, and Peyton. Taunya was preceded in death by her father, John Latteier and stepfather, Bob Aikens.
The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and staff of Brian Tudor, M.D., and Leslye Ingersoll, M.D. for their loving care and friendship, as well as the caring staff of VistaCare Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at the Farmington South Stake Center, located at 695 South 200 East, in Farmington, Utah. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT or from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center, prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Farmington City Cemetery. Please leave condolences and messages for the family at www.larkinmortuary.com

Anne Schade (Elwood)

I knew Tauyna all through grade school, jr. high and high school.  She was a kind and sweet person who was always interested in animals and her family.  She was a wonderful friend through grade school and jr. high.

We grew apart a bit in high school but I'm deeply saddened to learn of her passing.  I'm glad though that she had a full life with kids and family and all of the things that meant so much to her.  I also noticed she celebrated her 60th birthday just before she died.  Thanks Taunya for your friendship and I'm sure your spirit lives through your children and your pets and the world is a better place for it.

Love ya,

Anne Schade Elwood
