Kris Jolley (Murdock) VIEW PROFILE

Kris Jolley (Murdock)

Thank you Jana Sue for alerting us to the obituary.

Kristine Rose Jolley Murdock “Bob” was born in Salt Lake City, UT on August 7, 1952 to David Richard Jolley and Beverly Rose Jolley. She passed away on June 1, 2022 surrounded by her entire family. Kris was the oldest of 3 children, and was raised in the Rosecrest area in Millcreek, UT. She graduated from Skyline High School and attended the University of Utah studying special education.

She was sealed to the love of her life, Dean Niff Murdock in the Salt Lake City temple on June 14, 1973. They had 5 children, and lived most of their lives in the Salt Lake area.

Kris was always up for an adventure whether it was a trip to the cabin, taking her kids toilet papering, driving through Hobbitville, or Indian leg wrestling. She loved to garden, and always had a beautiful yard. She never met a stranger, and could become anyone’s best friend within moments of meeting them. She had the kindest and most generous heart. She would give anyone the shirt off her back. She was the definition of hard work and instilled that value in all her children. Kris was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held various callings. But her favorite, and what she will be remembered for most, was Primary Chorister.

Kris loved being an Aunt and was a second mom to countless friends. But her greatest joy in life was being a mom, and most especially a Grammie. Every grandchild would argue that they are her favorite – and they would all be correct. Her unique gift was making everyone feel loved. She made cut-up cakes for birthdays, and the very best roast beef dinners. She was the very best mom, and we feel so grateful and humbled that she was ours. We feel lost without her. Her absence will forever be deeply felt.

She fought like a trooper over the last several years with many health issues. Through it all she remained gracious and kind – if a little stubborn. We would like to thank her hospice nurses Marianne and Janae, and her aid Rosa along with the staff at Abbington Manor in Lehi for their kindness and loving care of our mom.

She is survived by her children; Natalie (Travis) Smith, Heidi (Josh) Haslam, Michael (Julie) Murdock, Cassie (Ian) LeCheminant, and Zachary (Amanda) Murdock, grandchildren Katie (Jacob), Kaylee, Annie (Parker), Parker, Matthew, Jaxon, Ethan, Abbie, Maddie, Owen, Ella, Carson, Gracie, Addie, Berkeley, Austin, Kallie, and Elizabeth, her loving sister Susan (Ron), brother Steven (July), many nieces and nephews, and several lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dean, mother Beverly, and stepfather Paul. We know that there was a loving and joyous reunion as she passed through the veil and was reunited with them.

A viewing will be held on Thursday June 9 from 6-8 pm at Holbrook Mortuary 3251 S 2300 E Millcreek, UT 84109. Funeral services will be Friday June 10 at 11 am, with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 am at the LDS chapel 220 E 8680 S Sandy, UT 84070. Interment will be at Heber City Cemetery immediately following the services.

This really hits home. During my three years at Skyline, I was mostly the withdrawn type and was not much into dating. (Besides, I had no car...) In fact, I only dated twice, once with a girl from West High, and another with a Skyline student. Kris Jolley. I knew Kris from Spanish class, and during my junior year we double dated with my brother and Kris' good friend, Tamara Holbrook. We remained friends throughout that year and the following. The last time that I spoke to Kris was the year after graduation, just before I left for my mission. She was working at Penny's at the Valley Fair Mall. I arranged to meet her there, where we talked for a short time. I am grateful now that I took the time to see her that last time.

I am happy that Kris married the love of her life, Dean Murdock, and that together they lived as a happy couple until his death. It is tragic that she left us earlier than she probably would have liked, and my sympathies are with her loved-ones at this difficult time.

To me, Kris will always be the golden-haired girl with blue eyes and a golden smile to match. I will not forget her.
